Released in April 2024, Relax Gaming’s Sultan Spins slot plays out on a 5×4 grid. In addition, there are 40 fixed paylines on which to land matching symbols and win prizes. 

The theoretical Sultan Spins RTP is a slightly above-average figure of 96.10%. Take note, however, that a lower-paying version of 94.00% exists at many online casinos. The maximum potential win is 5,000x your stake, but the game is highly volatile, with a 5 out of 5 rating.

Regular Symbols

Playing cards J through A are the lower-paying icons, each returning 0.4x, 1x and 2.5x for three, four and five on a payline. 

The game’s higher-paying symbols comprise a hookah, golden shoes, a truck, a yacht and a trendy-looking sultan. Landing five of this grinning fellow pays 50x, while others return between 12x and 20x for the same number.

Wilds

The letter “W” is the game’s wild, substituting for regular symbols to create winning combinations. In addition, it pays 5x, 30x and 100x for three, four and five.

If revealed by a gem, a wild can expand to cover the entire reel.  

Scatters

A wild cat is the scatter in this slot. Landing two scatters in the base game causes the symbols to be collected in a multiplier meter to the right of the reels. However, three will trigger the free spins feature.

Gem Symbols

There are five gemstones which can appear on specific reels, each linked to a different jackpots:

• Teal: Appears on the first reel and must be won before 25x is wagered.
• Blue: Exclusive to fifth reel and must be won before 50x.
• Green: Lands only on second reel and must be won before 250x.
• Purple: Appears on fourth reel and must be won before 1,250x.

Local Jackpot Feature

Relax Gaming ditches the Dream Drop feature seen in other progressive jackpot slots, opting for a local jackpot element. 

At the top of each reel is a jackpot meter that collects corresponding gems. Landing a gem increases the value of its pool by your bet size. Afterwards, you’re awarded either a pay symbol, a wild or a jackpot spin. 

The jackpot spin occurs on a mini pop-up reel and returns a prize, after which the jackpot meter’s value resets.  

Free Spins

Hitting three scatters rewards you with seven free spins. During this feature, every scatter that lands subsequently is collected in the multiplier meter. 

When the meter is full, a new level unlocks. There are five levels in total, each of which carries a multiplier value as follows:

• Level 1: x1 multiplier
• Level 2: x2 multiplier
• Level 3: x4 multiplier
• Level 4: x6 multiplier
• Level 5: x8 multiplier

The multiplier value from the active level is added to base wins in the free spins feature.

Sultan Spins Review – Our Final Verdict

Arabian motifs, much like Irish-themed slots, can easily become repetitive and stereotypical. Relax Gaming has done a good job in that regard. They’ve avoided the clichéd genie and magic carpet tropes, electing to put a contemporary twist on things. 

While Sultan Spins isn’t the most feature-packed game out there, it is still quite interesting. The developer throws in innovative twists like the free spins multiplier levels, for instance. There’s also a unique jackpot element. 

However, considering the theme of wealth and opulence, we’d have preferred to see the Dream Drop jackpot present. Or at least a bigger maximum potential payout. Still, with a solid RTP, fun theme and a wide range of betting limits, this game is sure to appeal to many players.
