Theme & Graphics in Floating Dragon

The theme of Floating Dragon is quite clear. From the dragon, which serves as the scatter, to what looks like Yoshino trees in the background, we’re clearly in China. Petals fall from the beautiful pinkish plants as you spin, while Asian kites fly proudly on the reels.

Compared to earlier Asian-themed Pragmatic Play slots, such as Triple Dragons, the graphics are much improved. However, this still looks very much like an Asian skin plastered onto one of the early Big Bass slots. That’s partially true, but it doesn’t quite paint the full picture.

Regular Symbols

There are ten regular symbols, starting with five playing card icons from A to 10. All of these pay the same amount, with 0.5x, 2.5x and 10x for three, four and five on a payline.

Next up, we have five higher-paying symbols which fit nicely with the Chinese theme. Koi carp return 1x, 5x and 20x, while also serving as special money symbols. You’l learn more about this later in our review.

Four colorful kites supply the greatest returns. The ship is the best of all, worth a maximum of 200x for five. What’s more, you’ll only need two of these to secure a prize of 0.5x.

Money Symbols

Three special money symbols exist in the game, performing various functions.

• Money Symbol: Represented by a gold coin, these only land on the middle reel. They feature multipliers of between 1x and 20x. Collect three to trigger the Hold & Spin Bonus.
• Fish Symbol: Koi carp carry random cash multipliers of up to 500x. During the base game, these values are irrelevant. But during the free spins round, they can be collected.
• Diamond Money Symbol: This can appear during the Hold & Spin Bonus on reels 1, 2, 4 and 5. It features a random multiplier of between 100x and 4,993x.

Wilds

A beautiful Asian woman serves as Floating Dragon’s wild, substituting for all regular symbols. During the free spins bonus, collecting these can lead to retriggers.

Scatters

The Chinese dragon is the game’s scatter. It can appear on any reel and will trigger the free spins bonus. Three results in ten free spins, with 15 and 20 issued whenever you collect four or five.

Free Spins

The standard free spins bonus works the same way as Pragmatic Play’s famous fishing slots, like Big Bass Splash. Whenever a wild appears at the same time as fish money symbols, she’ll harvest them and add them to your total.

Collect four wilds and you’ll earn a retrigger worth ten more spins and a 2x multiplier. Four subsequent wilds is good for a further ten spins and a 3x multiplier, then a 10x multiplier.

Hold & Spin

The Hold & Spin feature guarantees a payout of at least 20x. Starting with the three triggering symbols on the central reel, all regular symbols disappear. You’ll have three spins with which to land additional money symbols as you try to completely fill the reels.

Every time you hit a new money symbol, the spins counter resets to three. The game ends when you have no remaining spins, or the grid is totally full. Either way, you’ll earn the value of all multipliers on the screen.

The special Diamond Money Symbol can also appear during this feature, with enhanced multipliers of 100x, 200x, 300x, 400x and 4,993x.

Floating Dragon Review – Our Final Verdict

There’s a lot to like about this Pragmatic Play and Reel Kingdom venture. The 96.71% RTP gets things off to a promising start, while the betting limits are broad enough to appeal to all bankrolls.

Although Floating Dragon offers a lower maximum potential win than many other releases, it’s still worth playing. For us, the impressive graphics and serene soundtrack added an extra level of immersion to our gameplay.

The basic features are identical to those in the Big Bass series. However, don’t write it off as a total clone, because the new Hold & Spin round adds a massive twist. Although it’s tricky to unlock, it’s definitely a nice addition.
