There are 20 fixed paylines available in this simple 5×3 slot. The minimum bet amount is relatively high at $1, with an upper limit of $100. In terms of rewards, there’s a maximum potential payout of 12,500x available on any single spin.

Theme & Graphics in Fortune Dragon

Lay your eyes on the Fortune Dragon slot, and you’re instantly transported to Ancient China. Everything on the reels is in keeping with the legends of this region, including the mythical Dragon, the Tiger, and the Yin and Yang symbol. 

The animations and visual details are, unfortunately, at the lower end of the scale. Fortune Dragon resembles an older slot with less-than-crisp graphics. However, the soundtrack perfectly complements the overall theme. It’s tastefully done, depicting Eastern culture and adding a dose of excitement to the gameplay.

Regular Symbols

The lower-paying card symbols 10 through K offer payouts of 0.25x, 1x, and 1.5x for three, four, and five on a payline. However, the A pays slightly more, with 0.50x, 1.25x, and 2.5x up for grabs.

There are also five high-paying symbols, starting with the Lotus flower, which pays the same as the A. The Yin and Yang and red hongbao symbols offer a top payout of 3x each, followed by the 888 with 5x for five-of-a-kind. Finally, the most valuable symbol is the Tiger, with 7.5x for five matches.

Wilds

The game’s wild symbol is the Phoenix. It can replace all others except for the Scatter and the Link&Win symbols. The Wild also returns payouts of 0.4x, 2x, 4x, and 10x when matching between two and five on a payline. However, it can only appear on reels two to five.

Scatters

A dragon is the Scatter symbol. This brings rewards of 1x, 5x, and 20x for two, three, and four of them on the reels. Land just three to trigger the bonus feature.

Free Spins

Once activated, you’ll start the bonus with 15 free spins. Should three more land during the feature, the spins will retrigger with an extra 15. During this round, there is a greater chance of encountering the Roaming Phoenix Wilds feature.

Link&Win Feature

Drop at least three Link&Win symbols onto the reels during the base game or free spins to trigger this feature. If you do, the triggering Link&Win symbols are held in place, and you’ll receive three free respins.

For every additional Link&Win symbol that appears, three more respins are awarded. The game ends when you run out of spins. Alternatively, if you fill every space on the reels with a symbol, you’ll receive the Grand Jackpot of 5,000x.

In addition, there are smaller jackpots to be collected along the way. These are the Mini jackpot at 10x, the Minor at 25x, and the Major at 500x. All jackpot prizes are fixed, unlike those found in progressive jackpot slots.

Roaming Phoenix Wilds

If a wild lands during the same spin as a Link&Win symbol, the Roaming Phoenix triggers. This will proceed to move along the top of your screen, leaving behind additional wilds and Link&Win symbols

The Grand Jackpot is awarded on a $1 bet, visible bottom-right. A total payout of $5,139 is the result, shown in the center.

Fortune Dragon Review – Our Final Verdict

We can’t really say that Fortune Dragon is unique since there are literally hundreds of slots based on Ancient China and its mythical creatures. What’s more, the Link&Win feature is also quite common, seen in games designed by many different providers. If you’re going to recycle such a well-worn theme, you need to do it well. 

The graphics here aren’t exactly top-notch, and the only detail which makes Fortune Dragon stand out is the Roaming Phoenix Wilds. Despite not being an original feature per se, it does offer an interesting and potentially rewarding twist, helping to keep things interesting. 

Despite the lack of originality and arguably sub-par visuals, Fortune Dragon is actually a very playable slot. Jackpot games are always fun, while the top payout of 12,500x is an eye-catcher for a medium volatility slot.
