Let’s start our Joker Split review with a look at the game’s vital statistics. The highly-volatile action unfolds on a 6×6 grid, but unlike most real money slots, there are no paylines to be seen. Instead, you’ll need to form clusters of five or more symbols to secure a prize.

The maximum potential payout is a healthy 20,000x, while the RTP is a solid-enough 96.10%. A budget-friendly slot, you can play from just $0.10 per spin, while the upper limit is slightly low at $50.

Theme & Graphics in Joker Split

There are countless slots built around the joker from a traditional deck of playing cards, but this particular game stands out somewhat. First of all, the joker is female. She also comes with a couple of special tricks, such as multipliers and the ability to split in two. 

In addition, the developer has expanded the joker idea into a wider medieval theme. The 6×6 reel grid sits in the middle of an olde worlde town square, for instance, while nearby chickens cluck away in the background. Regular Symbols

There are seven ordinary symbols, starting with three lower-paying gemstones. These return 0.3x for a cluster of five, with a maximum prize of 10x for 15 or more. 

Next we have the joker-related paraphernalia; a pair of blue dice, plus two different sets of juggling equipment. All of these pay 0.5x for five, up to a maximum of 20x.

The final regular symbol is the king’s crown, which returns 30x for a cluster of 15 or more. A combination of five will earn you 1x.

Scatters

A large letter “B” framed in gold is the game’s scatter, or bonus symbol. Collect three, four or five anywhere on the reels and you’ll win five, six or seven free spins. 

Whenever these land, a neat little animation plays as they’re transported to the meter at the top of the grid.

Wilds

The game’s wild symbol is a female joker, which can substitute for any standard symbol. In addition, they sometimes appear with a multiplier, which increases wins accordingly. If more than one multiplier is used, the numbers are added together.

When jokers are unused at the end of a spin, they’ll turn gray.

Splitting Wild Respins

However, if a wild forms part of a winning cluster, it splits into two and triggers a respin. Any wilds collected from the previous spin then jump back onto the grid.

Should a wild land on a space that’s already occupied by another wild, their respective multipliers will be added together.

During the free spins bonus, any wilds which have turned gray are stored in a box to the left of the reels. They’ll eventually turn into regular wilds, jumping back into play on the first respin of every free spin.

Joker Split Review – Our Final Verdict

Although the theme of Joker Split is hardly new, Relax Gaming has done a nice job of keeping things different and entertaining. The random multipliers and splitting element are certainly interesting. But even the way she changes from happy to sad is a nice touch.

The RTP of 96.10% is solid, but the maximum possible win of 20,000x is actually pretty appealing. However, if you regularly play Relax Gaming slots, which are known for their high variance, high payout models, you could argue otherwise. 

We really enjoyed this one, and there’s really very little, if anything, to complain about. Perhaps the high rollers out there might have preferred a higher maximum bet. But with colorful graphics, simple mechanics and a low minimum stake, we suspect casual gamers are the target here.

There’s nothing revolutionary here. But if you’re after a fun and potentially rewarding slot that’s easy to play, you could do far worse than Joker Split.
