While it is clearly based on the famous Australian animal, the background and soundtrack are perhaps more reminiscent of the African savannah. 

Besides the dry, dusty background, with the odd green tree and plant, the only pops of color in this game are among the symbols. As the game is set down under, the highest-paying symbols are koalas, emus, lizards and crocodiles. However, the curveball here is that they’re all angry and ready to fight. Tying into the theme, the lower-paying symbols are decorated with a tribal design.

There’s not much change to the scenery during the free spins round, except that it now appears to be sunset. In addition, the Expanding Trail comes into view on the right of the playing field. Overall, the theme may be a bit of a mish-mash, but it’s definitely fun and typically well-presented.

This game offers nine regular symbols, five of which consist of aboriginal-looking playing card icons from 10 to A. These symbols all offer the same payouts of 0.10x, 0.50x and 1x for landing three, four and five on a payline. 

The higher-tier symbols show four fight-ready animals, some of which are sporting boxing gloves. Bonus Symbol

Wilds

The regular wild can land on all reels and substitutes for any other regular symbol. It simply features the word “Wild” in red lettering.

Adjacent to the reels lies the Expanding Trail, containing all nine of the game’s symbols in four segments. If a kangaroo forms a win with one of the active symbols, its corresponding image becomes inactive on the trail. 

Whenever a whole segment becomes inactive, those symbols are removed from the reels. This makes for greater potential rewards, with only the higher-paying symbols left. In addition, extra free spins are awarded whenever a segment is grayed out, plus the kangaroo expands. 

A 2×2 kangaroo results in three additional spins, with two more for reaching 3×3. There’s one further spin for both the 4×4 and 5×5 kangaroos. Should it reach 5×5, the maximum symbol payout is awarded for that round.
