Stack ‘Em Details, RTP and Volatility
Launching the highly-volatile Stack ‘Em slot reveals a grid of five reels and six rows. This isn’t a common layout in real money slots, but it’s just the start of this game’s unique and quirky features.
A cluster-paying mechanic requires you to build groups of identical symbols to win, rather than using paylines. There’s also a multiplier feature that causes losing symbols to fall off the grid. We’ll discuss this fully later in our review.
In this sequel, Hacksaw Gaming has bumped up the maximum payout to 10,000x, while the RTP is a marginally higher 96.20%. It’ll cost you between $0.20 and $20 to spin the reels.
Theme & Graphics in Stack ‘Em
Stick ‘Em, the 2019 predecessor of this Stack ‘Em slot, introduced us to the story of Canny the Can. This yellow character with a bowler hat has a smile plastered across his face, despite being thrown in the garbage. We also learn that he’s now teamed up with a mouse named Mona, seen to the left of the reels.
The two friends dance to the catchy jazz beat that plays in the background. Don’t be shocked to find yourself bobbing your head to it as well. Along with the vintage cartoon style of the characters, the soundtrack reminds you of an old-fashioned Disney animation.
Canny comes from the trash, and all sorts of things end up in there. Perhaps that’s why the game’s symbols are a mismatch of objects, including a snake, a skull, a leaf and even a dead bird.
Stack ‘Em Slot Features
Hacksaw Gaming has really shown off its creativity with this slot’s theme and visuals. But what about its features and mechanics? Find out next in our Stack ‘Em review.
Regular Symbols
There are ten regular symbols in Stack ‘Em. Five of these are the low-paying letters: A, G, E, R and T. As if to emphasize the seemingly random theme, each letter is written in a different old-school font. A cluster of five awards 0.10x, with 25 or more of the same kind paying a maximum of 25x.
The game’s high-value symbols are a thumbs-up gesture, snake, skull, a dead bird with a knife lodged in its chest and a leaf. You’ll earn 0.25x for five of each, except for the thumb, which pays double. For a cluster of 25, the returns are 100x and 200x.
Wilds
A symbol bearing the word “WILD” in bold orange lettering can substitute for any regular symbol to help you form clusters. If you look closely, you’ll also notice a sketch of a child’s profile drawn in blue.
Scatters
Remember the mouse we mentioned earlier in this Stack ‘Em review? She serves as the slot’s scatter. Behind her are the letters “FS” in green. Why? Because three or more of these activate the free spins bonus.
Multipliers
After every base game win, multipliers appear below the reels. The value of each corresponds to the number of winning symbols seen on that reel. With its 5×6 grid, the total multiplier value can reach up to x30.
In addition, any symbols not involved in the win are wiped from the grid. Winning symbols remain, falling to the bottom, while new ones fall from above.
Free Spins
Three or more scatters will trigger the free spins bonus. You’ll move to a different location and receive five free spins, represented by hearts above the grid.
A multiplier tab also appears. Every win earned increases its value by the number of symbols involved. When the X symbol appears, all winning clusters connected with it are multiplied by the value on top.
Land the special question mark symbol for a mystery prize, including additional free spins and increased multipliers of up to 50x.
Buy Bonus
For 129x your bet, you can instantly trigger free spins. The Buy Bonus icon is at the bottom-left of the screen.
How to Play Stack ‘Em Online
Stack ‘Em is very easy to play. Use the up and down arrows beside the large circular spin button to adjust your bet size. Then, form clusters of five or more identical symbols to earn prizes as indicated in the paytable.

Stack ‘Em Review – Our Final Verdict
Stack ‘Em is quite the slot. It may be difficult to ascertain a clear theme, but the entertainment value is obvious. We were especially impressed by the stellar graphics, interesting features and a healthy 10,000x potential win. A slightly improved RTP rate of 96.20% was also appreciated
Canny the Can is the same happy chap we saw back in 2019, though the Stack ‘Em experience is different from the original slot. The multipliers, for instance, are a very welcome addition.
However, one small gripe: the bonus of just five free spins is a little disappointing. Stick ‘Em awarded as many as 15 free spins, and most slots provide more than just five bonus plays. Still, the fact that we’re splitting hairs to this extent should tell you that we really enjoyed this game.
