Theme & Graphics in Wild Scarabs

As previously highlighted, the slot is heavily influenced by ancient Egyptian tropes. In fact, the title is a reference to a family of beetles which are highly symbolic in Egyptian mythology. These insects represent the sun’s cycle, rebirth and good luck. 

Microgaming, the slot’s original designer, before its acquisition by Games Global, also appeals to popular landscapes. Regular Symbols

Six different gemstones form the lower-paying symbols in the. These jewels include an emerald, amethyst and a ruby, with payouts ranging from 1.5x to 3.75x for five on a payline.

Wild Deal

Hitting three or more scatters triggers ten free spins to begin the feature. During the free spins, wilds that don’t form part of a win are collected into a Stacked Wilds meter above the reels.

Wild Scarabs Review – Our Final Verdict

At first glance, Games Global’s Wild Scarabs appears better than the average ancient Egyptian themed slot. But once you get past the shiny backdrop and neatly laid out interface, you’ll discover that there’s very little to work with. 

The slot builds all of its gameplay around the wild symbol, which is not surprising considering its name. Although there’s nothing especially wrong with this, there’s nothing innovative about it either. 

Ultimately, the game feels like a lazy reskin of Dragonz by Microgaming, only without the all-important free spins modifiers. There’s also very little to look forward to in terms of rewards, courtesy of a meager 1,733x maximum potential win. 

But on the bright side, there’s a solid enough RTP, plus the wide-ranging bet limits can accommodate high rollers and casual players alike. And, in all fairness, the Wild Deal and Stacked Wild features are quite enjoyable, despite the lack of originality. 

Overall, it just feels a little basic, as though it’s lacking something. What’s more, you get the impression that it’s a really old game; much older than it actually is, anyway. Let’s just say that there are better Egypt-themed games out there.
